The UGODOG was invented by Mikael Havluciyan, one of the founding members of Ugo Petcare LLC. It is another small family owned business interested in making the life of pet owners a bit easier and a bit less messier.

Products such as this can help reduce the use of those non-ecofriendly puppy pads but I think most pup owners like them because they keep the wee wee pads and soiled materials from become a wadded mess like this. Fun for the puppy but not the pet owner!

We started using the UGODOG from the first day our puppy came home at nine weeks. She took to it immediately! Of course there will be accidents for a while until the puppy matures but now she is six months old and uses it always. Once in a while she pees right outside the corners by accident, but better than all around the house. I put news paper or wee wee pads under the grate and clean it once everyday with clorox wipes. One bad thing is when your dog has soft stool and it gets stuck in the grate. I use q-tips to clean it (better when ti is dry) and maybe once every two weeks I clean the grates with bathroom foam cleaner which removes all the “dirt”.

On the downside, since she is now used to the potty she will never pee or poop outside which will cause a problem if you have to travel and take your dog with you or leave it at a boarding place. I will be traveling soon to visit my sister and I bought an additional potty for her home, which I will them mail to my parents home to have when I visit them.

On the whole we are very happy that we don’t have to take her out every time she has to use the potty, especially since we live in the city in a fifth floor walk up!

Thanks for leaving your story Mercedes. Puppies tend to miss as a general rule. This is why many people will place to dog toilet device in the corner. It at least helps a little bit. You are right about the specific toilet training issue. This is why many dogs that are trained to go in the home will not toilet outside. There are also some animals that will not toilet outside of their home territory–despite long walks.

You can retrain this but it takes time and you would need to have a dog toilet outside to help train it.
